2019 ASCO Meeting
CancerLinQ LLC is a not-for-profit subsidiary of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) established for the development and operation of the CancerLinQ initiative.[1]. CancerLinQ is a health information technology platform aimed at enhancing and improving the understanding and treatment of cancer. This program was created to give oncologists a robust quality monitoring system that collects and analyzes data from all patient encounters using Big data [1]
CancerLinq integrates EHR systems to improve care and fight cancer, bridging this information allows for greater knowledge-sharing and for better research opportunities to cure cancer. Only 3% of cancer patients take part in experimental medicine and clinical trials. That means there is none, or little, information of the other 97%. CancerLinQ aims to overcome this issue by gathering data from all oncologists and integrating it into one shared database.[2]
FASCO:
ASCO has announced the designation of Fellow of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, otherwise known as FASCO. Formerly called the ASCO Statesman Award and launched in 2007, the distinction is designed to honor ASCO’s most active volunteer members.
“The FASCO status represents recognition for the most dedicated and active volunteer members inside the organization,” said Allen S. Lichter, MD, CEO of ASCO. “These are people who have given of themselves tirelessly over a long period of time. They represent the very best of our organization.”
